About Seller Derek Barwood Orthodontics has been established in Howick since 1997. Derek graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Dentistry in 1980. He worked as a house surgeon at Wellington Hospital for 2 years before travelling to London, where he worked as a general dentist for 4 years. On returning to New Zealand, he purchased Belmont Dental Surgery, in Devonport, where he again worked as a general dentist. In 1993 Derek decided to specialise in orthodontics and was accepted for the Masters in Orthodontics degree at Otago University. After 3 years full-time study at Otago, he gained registration as an orthodontist and returned to Auckland with his wife and 3 children. He purchased an established specialist orthodontic practice in Howick, in 1997. Our team consists of Dr Derek Barwood, our practice manager Deb, receptionist Julia and clinical assistant Michelle. We aim to provide the highest standard of orthodontic care within a friendly, relaxed environment. We understand that orthodontics can be confusing and are more than happy to answer any questions.
